Indian Ridge Middle School, part of Broward Schools, is a campus of approximately 2000 students. Opening in 1995 to accommodate a then rapidly growing Davie area, Indian Ridge has grown to represent a very diverse population of students with very high expectations of academic performance and citizenship.
Approximately 270 students are enrolled in the band program.
Band is a curricular course with certain co-curricular components. Band classes at Indian Ridge Middle School meet daily for approximately 50 minutes. Beginning Band classes focus on fundamental performance techniques. Beginning instruments offered include:
Flute
Oboe and Bassoon
Clarinet
Alto Saxophone
F Horn
Trumpet
Trombone
Euphonium and Tuba
Percussion
Students with a year or more of playing experience will be grouped into one of three fully instrumented bands:
Honors Band is our Highschool Credit Highest Achieving band
Symphonic Band is our Advanced band
Concert Band is our Intermediate band
All three bands participate in school concerts and the Symphonic and Honors Bands participate in the Florida Bandmasters Association (FBA) Music Performance Assessment (MPA) each year. In addition, all students are eligible and encouraged to participate in All-State, All-County, and Solo and Ensemble events. Our philosophical mission is to provide every student with a positive, challenging, and relevant musical experience regardless of their level of proficiency.
The Indian Ridge Jaguar Band has earned a reputation as an outstanding middle school band program within Broward County.
